Former Ontario Soccer Technical Director Jim Cannovan Joins St. Lawrence Surge Staff
Looking to bolster their coaching ranks, the St. Lawrence Surge Men’s Soccer program is excited to announce the addition of former Ontario Technical Director and ex professional player Jim Cannovan, as Technical Advisor (@canadasocceren).
The former @OntarioIsSoccer Technical Director who served from September 12, 1994 to November 15, 2009 joins the Surge after an extensive career on and off the field with coaching experience at the provincial and national levels,. He has authored many books on player/coach development, was a scout for @everton and competed as a professional player for Celtic FC.
The erstwhile pro — he played in three countries including Canada, where he suited up for Homers of the defunct National Soccer League — is particularly adrenalized by youth development in his sport.
“Jim is regarded as one of the top educators in North America and will be a valuable asset to this year’s outstanding squad” said head coach, Carlo Cannovan and is a welcomed asset to the program.
