Demetri Vacratsis Named Lancers’ Interim Head Coach

Director of Athletics Stephanie White is pleased to announce the appointment of Demetri Vacratsis as the interim head coach of the Lancer men’s soccer program for the 2023 season.
Vacratsis is no stranger to the Lancer family, serving as an assistant coach with the women’s program for the last two years. He will continue with this role throughout the 2023 season.
“We are very excited to have Demetri on board as the interim head coach of our men’s soccer team,” said White. “He has done a tremendous job as an assistant with our women’s program and throughout the community and we are looking forward to him leading our Lancer men’s soccer team next season.”
A native of Windsor, Vacratsis is familiar with the university student-athlete environment having played at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee after a successful high school career at WD Lowe.
He is the former head coach of the Tecumseh SC U17 OPDL team and spent five years coaching and recruiting with Vardar SC in the MLS Next Club in Michigan from 2016-2021. Vacratsis was appointed after previous head coach Ryan Mendonca stepped away from the program.
Coach Vacratsis is eager to lead the blue and gold and work with the student-athletes. “Playing this game, at this level, should be a rewarding and memorable experience for these young athletes,” commented Vacratsis. “I’m very grateful to be a part of both Lancer soccer programs, and tremendously excited for the opportunity to be a part of their experience.”
The lancers open the 2023 campaign away for a pair of games at Algoma on September 2nd and 3rd, OUA Schedule Set To Begin 2023 Season On August 31st and then their home opener the following week vs traditional powerhouse York Lions September 9th.
