MATCH 8: Cégep Sainte-Foy Dynamiques 1 (PK), Holland Hurricanes 1

It was a dramatic evening at the Credit Union Place in Summerside as the Dynamiques and Hurricanes battled for the final berth to the CCAA National Championship match.

An opening half with scoring opportunities at both ends of the pitch amounted to zeroes on the score sheet entering the break as the host, Holland Hurricanes, had their supporters behind them in the cold and rain.

A goal in the 62’ by Chloé Chouinard after a defensive breakdown by the Hurricanes led to the first goal of the match, putting Holland College on their back foot and trailing Sainte-Foy, 1-0.

The Hurricanes would rebound however, scoring in the 77’; a beautiful header by Emma MacIntyre to tie the match at 1-1, eventually sending it to penalty kicks at full-time.

The first four shooters would score, knotting things at 2-2, followed by two stops.  Ste-Foy would score on their final two shooters, while the Hurricanes would fail to capitalize, allowing the Dynamiques to outscore Holland in penalties, 4-2.

The 4Imprint Players of the Match were Anne-Gabrielle Pouliot, for the Dynamiques, and Misha Koyari, for the Hurricanes.

    MATCH 7: Seneca Sting 2, Champlain Saint-Lambert 0

A goal in the 25’ by Jessica Shears shocked the Cavaliers, giving Seneca the early lead.  She added her second of the match in the 37’ to extend the lead to two.

The powerhouse Cavaliers were stunned as they were unable to solve the Sting defence in the heated second half.

With a red card being issued in the final ten minutes of the match, Seneca was clutch and held on to earn the 2-0 victory.

The 4Imprint Players of the Match were Jessica Shears, from Seneca, and Emilie Grondines, from Champlain Saint-Lambert.

After a defensive battle gave us a scoreless first half, Rachelle O’Leary broke the tie in the 47’ to give the Trojans the lead.

SAIT would hold this lead into the final third of regulation time, until Ashlyn Grim scored for Douglas in the 66’, knotting the match at 1-1.  The Royals were not done yet.  Christine Singh would give the Royals the lead in the 72’, ultimately earning them the victory.

The 4Imprint Players of the Match were Ashlyn Grim, from Douglas, and Erin Mergen, from SAIT.

MATCH 5: UKC Blue Devils 2, Brandon Bobcats 1

The two competing teams continued to play each other closely, until UKC managed to find the net in the 81’ when Anna Dugandzic put the Blue Devils ahead, 2-0.

The UKC two-goal lead was short-lived, as Brandon finally solved the UKC defense, scoring in the 82’, setting up an exciting finish.  The Brandon goal-scorer was Keashae Masters.
