On Friday afternoon March 8, 2024 Queen’s Men’s Soccer Head Coach Christian Hoefler was advised that his tenure with the program will officially end on April 30, 2024.

The Gaels Men’s Soccer program will be transitioning from a part-time to a full-time head coaching position effective the 2024-25 season.

The transition of this role will trigger a nationwide search for the next head coach of the Queen’s Men’s Soccer program, with the position being posted as of today, March 12, 2024.

“I would like to thank Christian for his dedication to the Queen’s Men’s Soccer program over these last 10 years,” said Dalton Myers, Director, High Performance Sport Programs. “We value his commitment and care in the development of Queen’s student-athletes during his tenure.”

Hoefler took over as Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer program at Queen’s in 2014 and compiled a 60-41-27 regular season record. The program had eight postseason appearances during his tenure and had a record of 3-8.  Also in his time during his tenure, Hoefler was the Club Head Coach with the Kingston Junior Gaels Soccer Club and is entering his seventh year in charge of developing over 2,000 soccer players in the Kingston region. In 2019, he was offered an Assistant Coach position with the Canadian Soccer FISU Games men’s and women’s teams.

Hoefler was Head Coach of the Kingston Clippers Men’s Team in League1 Ontario for two seasons (2015-2016), the Kingston Clippers Women’s Team in League1 Ontario for their only season in 2016.

Hoefler came to the Gaels from the Ottawa Fury Football Club where he served as Head Coach from 2007.
