Ontario Tech women’s soccer is pleased to announce Zack Wilson has been named the program’s first full-time assistant coach after spending the 2021 season working as assistant coach and performance analyst for the team.

With 10 years of coaching experience under his belt and spending the past year alongside head coach Audra Sherman, (See Post Coach story from June 22, 2022 https://www.postcoach.ca/2022/06/22/the-seeds-of-change-are-planted-in-the-oua-with-ontario-techs-audra-sherman/). Wilson has supported the team by implementing the program’s vision, leading recruitment and video analysis.

“Zack is a talented and dynamic coach, whose mindset and core values align with our program making him a great addition to the staff,” said Sherman. “Having him work daily with players and out in the community recruiting talent will elevate our program and move us closer to achieving our goals.”

Wilson has established solid relationships with the coaching staff and student-athletes, making for a smooth transition into this new role.

“Having joined the Ridgebacks program in 2021, I have enjoyed working closely with Audra and our women’s soccer staff to build a top-tier program and compete for national championships,” said Wilson.

Wilson brings a long-time passion for coaching, spending 2012-21 as head coach of the North York Cosmos 2002 and 2003 teams. In 2021 he moved into the technical director role with the North York Cosmos.

In addition to his time with the Cosmos, Wilson coaches the Simcoe County Rovers FC League1 women’s team. In this position, he has experience engaging in recruitment, alongside training and development.

Wilson’s leadership and mentoring skills will be an asset to the women’s soccer team environment as they approach training in August.

“I am excited for the opportunity to join the athletic department full-time to elevate our programming, operations, and most importantly, the experience of our student-athletes.”
