Draw and Bracket Announced For the 2023 U SPORTS Women’s Soccer Championship

U SPORTS announced the seedings and bracket for the 2023 U SPORTS Women’s Soccer Championship, to be hosted by Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont. The tournament gets underway on Thursday, Nov. 9 and concludes the following Sunday, November 12th.
The eight participating teams, listed in order of seedings, are as follows:
- #1, Laval Rouge et Or, RSEQ champions (12-0-2 regular season, 2-0 playoffs)
- #2, Ottawa Gee-Gees, OUA champions (11-0-1, 3-0)
- #3, StFX X-Women, AUS champions (12-0-0, 2-0)
- #4, Trinity Western Spartans, Canada West champions (9-2-3, 1-0-2)
- #5, Queen’s Gaels, OUA finalists / hosts (10-1-1, 1-1-1)
- #6, Montréal Carabins, RSEQ finalists (8-4-2, 1-1)
- #7, UBC Thunderbirds, Canada West finalists (13-1-0, 2-0-1)
- #8, Western Mustangs, OUA bronze medallists (host berth) (10-1-1, 2-0-1)
In women’s soccer, the four conference champions are seeded in positions one through four, based on their conference’s finish at last year’s national championship. The remaining four teams are placed into predetermined spots in the bracket based on their finish in their respective conference playoffs. National rankings play no role in teams’ placement within the bracket.
The entire tournament will be played at Richardson Stadium in the Queen’s University west campus. The four quarterfinals will be played on Thursday, November 10, as follows: (all times Eastern)
- 11 a.m. #6 Montreal vs. #3 StFX
- 1:30 p.m. #7 UBC vs. #2 Ottawa
- 4 p.m. #8 Western vs. #1 Laval
- 6:30 p.m. #4 Trinity Western at #8 Queen’s
Game Day 2 is set for Friday, November 10, and will see consolation games at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., with championship semifinals to follow at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
The lone game on Saturday, November 11, will be the fifth-place game, set for 4 p.m. The final day is Sunday, November 12, and will feature the bronze-medal game at 12:30 p.m. and the championship at 3 p.m.
